I must share this regarding looting people - broad daylight robbery. We five senior citizens were travelling from Bandra Terminus to Bhuj. We had all our tickets booked much in advance but due to some oversight I forgot to take the tickets and they were left at home at Ahmednagar. When we were at Bandra, that was the day of Ganapati Visarjan, I looked high and low but could not find my tickets both onward and inward journeys. We contacted the Station authorities if there was solution to this but no one came forward to guide us. They said you can talk to the TT on the train and he will issue a fresh ticket. We dished out full amount of the tickets and were told that we would get refund at a later date when we would apply with xerox copies of the ticket. At Bhuj we requested the railway authorities for a duplicate ticket for our outward journey and it was given to us after we paid the required amount. So that was taken care of. When we returned to Ahmednagar we applied for a full refund of the tickets which were not utilized and for which we had to pay the full amount for new tickets., When we sent all the papers and various signature from the local railway authorities, we got a reply after 2 and a half months saying soon the refund will be given to you and you can contact the Station Master at Ahmednagar for this. When we got the refund it was only for the percentage a senior citizen enjoys not the full amount. When we wrote again for full refund, till today we have not heard from them. This is cheating the public / senior citizens and also we all from the Army, retired. This is how they account for - its a real shame. This amounts to paying doubly for the one way journey. Can someone help. This is really daylight robbery. more

You are talking of 10 days - when we plan to go by train we try to get our tickets well in advance i.e. 2 months in advance. Believe me you even then the tickets are not available - sold out. When you go to an agent he has the tickets and they take their commission - so you are paying over and above your ticket. more

It is very tough now a days to get a railway reservation ticket even ten days in advance. Getting tatkal ticket at reservation counters is a nightmare. Getting a tatkal e ticket is out of question because with in ten minutes of opening all the tatkal tickets are sold out. What is the option left out is to approach some body who will book a tatkal ticket for you at a cost of rs.100 to 400 over & above the actual cost. What plans railways have in this scenario... more
