Will Cauvery Management Board be the uitimate solution ?

Tamil Nadu has gracefully accepted the Supreme Court decision on Cauvery water dispute, inspite of the reduction in the water allotment for the state. Certainly, Tamil Nadu should be complimented for this.

Supreme Court has further ordered that the Government of India should evolve a scheme to appoint Cauvery Management Board within six weeks. Tamil Nadu wants the government of India to constitute the water management board while Karnataka is opposing it.

The ball is clearly in the court of government of India.
Obviously, this a piquant situation for government of India as the bitterness between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu will continue in the event of government of India setting up the Cauvery Management Board as per the directions of the Supreme Court . Possibly, government of India is thinking that even if Cauvery Management Board were to be constituted, Karnataka will defy the board and will refuse to abide by it’s decision.’

Government of India appears to be taking time, since it wants to find an amicable solution to solve the problem between both the states.

The problem here is all the politicians in India and every party has partisan narrow outlook or self centred and do not have a national view on any matter. This is applicable to all political parties.

The ultimate solution for Cauvery water dispute is for Tamil Nadu government to find new source of water for the state, to fill the gap in the supply of Cauvery water from Karnataka state. This can be done by setting up desalination plants in the coastal region of the state of total capacity 10 million litres per day that would cost around Rs. 50000 cr.
Government of India should take up the responsibility for implementing this large capacity desalination plants as Tamil Nadu government cannot afford this investment.

Government of India should invite international investment and several overseas companies will certainly be interested in such projects. The cost of desalinated water is around 8 paise per litre and the water can be used for all purposes including drinking.

The suggestion that I have sent on these lines a few weeks back to Tamil Nadu government has not yet been acknowledged.

I completely agree with Mr.N.S.Venkataraman and Government should and must accept his suggestions instead of protesting inthe parliament. Our C.m.should give give strict instructions to A.D.M.K. M.P Thambidurai and other M.Ps to stall Parliamentary proceedings on Cauvery issue. Its shame for Tamilnadu. more
The dispute begane in 1910 when Mysore, under Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar as the king and Capt. Dawes[11] as Chief Engineer came up with a plan to construct a dam at Kannambadi village to hold up to 41.5 TMC of water. Today it is the year 2018 i.e. 108 years have passed. Both the governments could have taken alternate measures for storage of rain water and water from other sources in affected area. Whatever is happing today is totally political. With this political intension our next two generations will also find the same status. more
Supreme Court had reduced TN's share by 27.75 TMC of water based on an assumption that TN should utilize 10 TMC of underground water. Nobody can be able to predict the quality and quantity of the underground water, which will also be subject to change, to certain natural happenings(drought, tremors, tsunami). If you just think, 27.5 TMC of water can feed Chennai for 4 years on a daily basis. This will only expedites changing C.delta's fertile land into barren land with little water left. Comparatively our neighboring states have higher source and storage capacity of water compared to TN, through Linginamakki, Suba, Alametti in KS and Nagarjuna, Srisailam Polavaram to name a few. Formation of CMB is a immediate must, but even arriving at a formula or workable result will take its own sweet time. SO? connect the rivers and divert the river water going waste into sea from eastern side of Indian Coast.(Kodavari, Tungabadra) The big bosses in Delhi will always be in glee, till we keeping begging from them. They may have a solution but they wont. more

OF INDIA DOORSTEP WITH " THEIR PANTS DOWN". HENCE, IT WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR TAMIL NADU TO MAKE ITS OWN ARRANGEMENTS..!!.. more
Govt of Karnataka is unethically opposing the natural resources which pertaining to other stateS. The behaviour is highly dangerous to the integration if the country.
Further the question of whether carvery management body is ultimate is unwarranted because it the judgement after many decades of deliberation.
Again no doubt the Karnataka will always oppose of giving water whatsoever be the quantity.
So it has to be treated only with iron hand to save the integration of the country. more
The supreme court should have given a verdict as to sharing the water prportionate in perventage and not by volume. What if the catchment has less than Karnataka's share. Will they use the entire available water and inform Tamilnadu that they will not get any ? more
Yes That is the scheme when drought prevails the sharing quantity and in normal period the quantity Wolverhampton Gary as well during monsoon the excess outlet ..all these to be evolved and it is there more
