Will increasing duties really help

Duties have been increased on iphones and other mobiles and gadgets and now they cost more. With this increase in duty wil apple start making in India? i doubt but yes smuggling will increase and consumer will pay more.
Such increases must be better thought through...Attached are the increases. more

Decision makers particularly those in the Government should take decision on a consolidated basis before bringing out changes in government rates and taxes. While rates have been increased for whatever reasons how the government is going to handle the electronic waste generating out of it. Why not the manufacture also take responsibility of their wastes? Government can very much make a rule on it. more  
Public comments and feedbacks shall ultimately be a force to reckon with in this country, if only the public would finally wake up to the reality of life.......Slumber has never sailed to success! more  
Indian Made Products must be guaranteed with adequate Market. It needs Export Incentives and, Import Duties to Sustain National Economy too. more  
Imported goods to be taxed at higher rate to encourage production in India more  
Indigenous Products must be guaranteed with adequate Market extending Export Incentives, taxing Imports. more  
Is there any other way to try making any Manufacturer "Make in India" except by increasing duties, now that we have One Tax System - GST ? India is the 2nd largest Market for any Consumer Product now and all Manufacturers in the world will not like to give us a miss. Hence we are now in the best position to force these guys to open Factories in India with a large Ancillary Base with decently large Employment .... more  
All said is true. Can we expect any change in next 30 years, unless political people and administrators start working with the point of view of common people? more  
Good words and well said, my dear! But the first step is to provide easy workable facilities to investors. Has India fulfilled the promise of 'one window' acceptance of foreign investors....like they 'actually' did in Singapore and in China?

Believe me, a lot needs to be done in this country to smoothen and streamline the working modus. Bureaucracy needs to to totally killed. However, for that clear cut rules need to be defined and applied. Most important is that the Babus understand those rules and do not lend to them their 'own, personal' interpretations.....

This is the evil we need to fight against......the mis-interpreters! more
