Woes of Senior Citizens

Kill Senior Citizens 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Govt should kill all sr. citizens after the age of 65 because Govt is not ready to pay attention to these nation builders. This issue was raised in Parliament by Hon. MP Jaya Bachchan.

Is it a crime to be a sr citizen in India?
Sr citizens of India are not eligible for medical insurance after 70 years, they do not get loan on EMI. Driving license is not issued. They are not given any work, hence they depend on others for survival .They had paid all the taxes, insurance premiums upto the age of retirement ie 60-65. Now even after becoming sr citizens, they have to pay all the taxes. There is no scheme for sr citizens in India. 50% discount on railways has also been discontinued.
The interest rate on Senior Citizen Savings Scheme 2004 was reduced from 9.3% in April 2015 to 7.4% and now it is 8.2%. This scheme was a welfare scheme for retirees from private sector who do not get pension, to provide them regular income stream to meet day to day expenses. It was increased from 9% to 9.3% after 11 years.

The other side of the picture is that sr citizens in politics MLA, MP or Minister, are given every possible benefit and they also get pensions. I fail to understand why all others ( except some Govt employees) are denied the same facilities. Imagine, if the children are not caring about them ,where will they go. If the elders of the country go against the Govt in elections, it will affect the election results . Government will have to face the consequences.

Seniors have the power to change the government, don't ignore them. They have the life long experience to change the Govt. Don't consider them weak ! So many schemes are required for the benefits of seniors . The govt spends a lot of money on welfare schemes, but never realizes about sr citizens. On the contrary, the income of sr citizens is decreasing due to reduction in interest rates of banks. If some of them are getting a meager pension to support the family & self, it is also subject to income tax. So sr citizens should be considered for some benefits :
1. All citizens above 60 must be given pension
2. Everybody must be given pension as per status
3. Concession in railway, bus & air travel.
4. Insurance should be must for all upto the last breath & premium must be paid by the Govt.
5. Court cases of sr citizens must be given priority for early decision.
6. Sr. citizens homes in every city with all facilities
7. Govt should amend the rule of scrapping 10 -15 yrs old used cars. This rule should be applied only for commercial vehicles. Our cars are purchased on loan & our uses are only 40 to 50000 km in 10 yrs. Our cars are as good as new one. If our cars are scrapped, then we must be given new cars.

I request all Sr citizens and youth to share it on all social media. Let's hope that this government, who is sincere all the time and talks of "Sab ka saath, sab ka vikas" will do something for the betterment of those who have contributed in nation building and are now past their prime. more

While agreeing with Mr. Mohit, I agree with other views too. I feel Mr. Mohit mentioned, general conditions of senior citizens facing mostly and not in particular group, who can earn as consultants etc. It is true some are doing as consultants, free lancers etc., and earning. But we have to see many people retire from private companies, and as some one said aged people in agriculture sector etc., are getting only meager amounts as pensions. The cost of living, medical care etc., are escalating every day and with age advance earnings are low and expenses are more. I feel we are to look in that way. However, I request the government to provide fixed interest rates for life of senior citizens for bank deposits etc., some benefits for taxpayers, who paid during their service etc. if any scheme launched for the benefit of senior citizens, may be made good for their life time, instead of 5 or 10 years etc. It will provide some assured amount for their savings and may allow to lead tension free life with respect to some extent. more
Dear Mr. Pande, I think there's some confusion to you. Me and my wife, both 70+ have got medical insurance given by Govt of Rajasthan. Moreover, insurance companies are also giving coverage though premium is high. As far as driving license is concerned, I have valid DL (2W & 4W) upto 2025 and renewal there after, if found fit. more
Dear Mr. Parakh,
I am 80 and have Mediclaim Cover as I worked with Tata Power. Many other senior citizens may be denied cover by Insurance Companies. more

Dear Sir  While appreciating the concerns shown for senior citzens , I would liketo respond as follows . That if we are having a health insurance policy , we can keep on renewingit without any age restrictions . I am 71 years old and maintaining a 7year old health insurannce policy . That for the purpose of renewing your car driving license after the ageof 70 years, that is no issue . Simply meet any tout siting in front ofRTO Office in Noida , and he will organise everything for you incla District Hospital Medical Practitioner's Certificate [ he keeps blanksigned Certificates with him ! ]  That we can do part time assignments or act as Advisors /Consultants .I am, for example, a Life long Advisor for a leading Insurance Companywhich keeps me busy and generates substantial income from saleof new policies as well as renewals of old/existing ones . In short, we have to do our best within the limitations that we arewell aware of , not comparing it with the benefits that advancedcountries in Europe or US/Canada [ esp those relating tohealth care ] . Complaining won't take us anywhere ! Respectfully submitted  Dr Arun AgrawalM: 9810081287 On Thursday, 31 August 2023 at 14:12:11 GMT+5:30, MOHIT PANDE wrote: more
