Women and children's safety
The first thing as a country we need to do is to keep our women and children safe.
1. Education about danger lurking in every corner has to be broadcast, so people look after their children and women.
2. Police and surveillance has to be improved.
3. Porn has to be banned.
4. Strict punishment for rape and for intoxication. Many rapes are done under intoxication.
5. The citizens need to make a vigilante group.
6. The children should be taught about these evil people as young as 2-3 year old so they do not trust anyone. This education can only come with national broadcasting on television and radio. more

i agree with most part of Sri R Kamath. A few more points i wish to add. First of all ban all the TV serials which show how a women can be easily cheated and raped and the culprits can go unpunished, i am not for Eye for Eye justice, but in this case the culprit, whatever is his/their age, should be sterilized. i know that there will be lot of medical complications arising out of this, but this will bring in certain social stigma. Basically the mindset of people must change. of late we are reading in news paper that toddlers are being raped. i am of the opinion that the laws are to be recast that judgement is delivered within 30 days of filing FIR and the police officers should be held responsible if FIR is not filed within 7 days after the crime is committed. more

We must practice zero tolerence towards such offences. Speedy and exemplary punishment and social isolation of the culprits may help. Specail efforts are required to educate and discipline the male children. more

It is not as simple as that. As per media, social activist & opportunist opposition women & children safety is the responsibility of only govt and the police, not even the parents. If you talk of educating parents these media & social activist say govt is trying to shift its responsibility on to parents. If you say porn to be banned these people say govt is curtailing their freedom & dictating us what to see & what not to. If you suggest strict punishment they say no death penalty is to be given & some politician say rapists are small boys they cannot be punished severely. If you suggest vigilante group, they say you are snooping on others. As far as teaching to children is concerned, is it their age to learn rape & not trusting their neighbor, uncle, or known persons. Even if they do not trust do they have capability protest such rapist? more
