Wrong information display in Internet
Hi,
This is Sharif Shiraz from Malda,West Bengal & I have booked a ticket from NJP(New Jalpaiguri Stn) to Sealdah dated 12.08.2017 (ticket attached) ,but unfortunately I was unable to reach station within 8pm as the departure time was 8pm .
But when I see the train live status on Internet it shows that "TRAIN DEPARTED" on exact 8pm from NJP & that's why I didn't go to NJP station for catching the train .Lastly I was traveled to Kolkata by Bus & as per IRCTC policy my total money (Rs.700) was wasted.
After sometime traveling by Bus my friend inform me that 12344 Dn.Darjeeling Mail from NJP to SDAH late by 20mins & started at 8.20pm for Kolkata.
In this situation I just want to know from Rail that who is responsible for this & who refund my money ?
If I don't get back my money I'll go to Consumer forum for Justice....... more

Content of the letter is very confusing. One should plan to reach departure station at least 15 minutes earlier of time of actual departure. You should have first applied for refund At NJP [ Departure station within 4hrs] and then planned for subsequent Train or Bus Travel.. I hope, you were not guided properly. We are having repeated Rail Accidents that have made I am sorry to say travelling in our trains a nightmare.The meaningless loss of huge invaluable lives coulwould have been mord have been stopped if the Railway Officers e alert( The Board Members ) .The Divisional Managers ,Railway linesmen and gang men have a nice and easy life at least most of them.The permanent job structure should be abolished and instead a contract job say of 11 months for each of them including the Railway Board Members should be implemented if Indian Railways is ti be saved .Accountability is unique and only currently can be seen but what will happen the Railway Minister throws Down his mantles -the dead will not be brought alive .An experienced minister instead if resigning should keep in mind that the Passenger safety along with passenger comfort counts first and foremost.As I have heard more than the population of Australia is ferried to and fro by our Railways ,lets improve.Please keep a hold on the Bullet Trains I will request our beloved Prime Minister.Unless trains at ordinary speeds are safe Bullet trains cannot run safely in our tracks and will definitely result to higher loss of human life which should be avoided at any cost. more

Your problem is that the information system gave you wrong information because of which you decided to abandon the journey. You are absolutely right in getting compensation for the inefficiency of working of Railways. But to prve this to go to Consumer Court will be very troublesome & costly. It is advisable to avoid the Consumer Court for this small amount of money. Now that you have put up your complaint in this forum, wait & see if any redressal comes out of this. We live in Incredible India and only God may help us. more

Write to Mr. Prabhu and 'Almighty Prabhu' will bless him to improve the railways. He should be caught responsible and he is bound to get you refund. If not go the Consumer Redressal Forum and claim for deficiency in services. more

I have full sympathy with you Mr Shiraz. Unfortunately this issue is being raised by several members but problem is continuing. I am unable to understand the use of digital media if information provided is not reliable. I have personally faced this situation on many occasions. Hope Railway will do something. more
