Yet again Gas leak in East Godavari Village

The Gas Pipe leaks irrespective of nature of cause in peaceful Konassema region during the last 10 years is alarming. People in this part of Andhra Pradesh were living peacefully in the lust green atmosphere of this place in the past. The Oil/Gas companies entered and failed to create an environment with which the residents can continue to live with confidence about their safety. There are indications that ground reality is different from what they show on HSE policy and with the latest technology the uncertainties can be put to bear minimum if there is a will and accountability by the companies and the Govts. For example there are procedures to detect the weak section of the Pipe and repair before it breaks. Piping corridor maintenance is very important part of operations and the recent accident at Pasarlapudi indicate how serious they are.
I am not against producing Oil/Gas in KG basin but definitely worried about the residents of those areas who are living with uncertainties about their safety.
Having worked in the Oil industry for a long time and with my basic knowledge I can say some thing is definitely wrong with the Hydro Corban production facilities in KG basin. From the press we came to know that the subject well was closed in 2007 for lack of sufficient pressure. The well is owned by a PFH Oil & Gas Pvt Ltd now as per the news papers. Gas or Oil well is not a water well/tap to open any time. Looks like basic petroleum industry guide lines for well shutdown & commissioning were never followed and suspect the protection systems (SSSV)
As per the recent supreme court judgement ,"Shut shop if you can not manage pollution" but do not put lakhs of people in trouble by polluting the environment.. more

Very unfortunate that the Konaseema region was to put such hardship; neither the State benefits much with the gas. Another area where the State and its people are at receiving end! more
Should we allow our resources to go out freely?
The 12 th Finance commission clearly stated the State share of Profit petrolium. Millions of Standard cubit feet of Gas /Oil are being pumped out of KG Basin daily on which we have a legitimate Right.
How can we be silent spectators ? It is time to demand our rights on our reserves and taken up as the First issue to be settled.

The Central government which promised to support the new State of Andhra Pradesh is not only procrastinating on key commitments like special status , but is also refusing to concede the genuine demands of the State. Latest on this front is the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, remaining non-committal on the plea by the State Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, for a share in the royalty from offshore exploration of oil and gas reserves from the Krishna Godavari basin . more
Dear Murty garu, It is an alaraming situation not only to Pusrlspudi residents but to entire community at large. The Govt should take appropriate steps to eradicate such leakages deploying efficient scientists and technocrates into the field and to safe guard the Health and wealth of the community. more
Being a technical matter , we cannot help you. more
